When the Dot NET universal TLD was first started in 1985, together with the first domain extensions on the World Wide Web, it was planned to be used by Internet Service Providers or infrastructure organizations. As there were no particular requirements about the usage of the top-level domain extension, though, .NET domains were booked and used for different purposes and by a huge number of people. This domain extension represents a great alternative to dot COM, especially if the desired domain with the latter domain extension is not free for registration.

You can easily modify the WHOIS contact details of the domain through your Control Panel interface, or, if you don’t want this information to be accessible at all, you can order a Whois Privacy Protection service, so nobody will be able to check your true contact information.
